Our story
begins here :

Hi, I am Nidhi Sharma!
I found myself working in finance almost a bit by accident.
I am an immigrant, who first moved to the US for my university education. I love technology, so I studied EE&CS at the very prestigious MIT - Bachelors and Masters.
Given my slow process of assimilation in the US, I wasn't as slick, confident or polished as many of my American classmates. So I never got any internships in consulting or investment banking or PE.
After 2 internships at an Engineering firm in the Midwest, as a Junior I really wanted to find a dazzling brand to put on my CV. My brother who was at Columbia University at the time told me to look at finance. I was determined to have a blue-chip job offer when I graduated so I finally got a research role at the inimitable Goldman Sachs! I loved it. Finance, unlike engineering, has immediate and quantifiable feedback - aka PnL.
I had various job offers from GS but I landed the big one - Citadel! A haven for quant research and yes its true, they pay well, I moved to Chicago to get my first real taste of trading.
I had a very challenging but successful career at Citadel - I moved to London in my early 20s, traded massive books everyday, made a boat load of money for the firm, was courted by head hunters and brokers every week for years, numerous parties - Wimbledon, Royal Ascot, Spice Girls Concerts, big pay days, you name it.
This is where my passion for trading started - and not from a first principles sort of way where you learn about valuation, fundamental analysis etc but from a purely data driven, momentum based way.
As my career progressed from the quant to the fundamental, from the public to private, from equity to credit and niche assets (music royalties & film financing!), I have continued to fuel that passion and curiosity with a wide toolkit of investing techniques and asset classes.
My unique career and experiences have shaped some unique perspectives when it comes to investing. After all, it comes with the territory of managing multi-billion dollar multi-asset portfolios for large institutional clients. Folks have often liked hearing it, so I thought why not share it more broadly?
I have started this blog to share some of that knowledge so that everyone can learn and think outside the box on how to grow their own personal wealth.
Thank you for supporting me in the endeavor.
